Jesus In Walmart Receipt: The Strangest 'Sacred Sightings' Of 201

God definitely moved in strange and unusual ways this past year -- at least judging from when and where the Creator of the universe has been seen.

For instance, a couple in Anderson County, S.C., believe they saw the image of Jesus appear in their Walmart receipt, while a woman in Kansas has varicose veins that reportedly spell out the letters "G-O-D."
People also claimed they saw Christ in pizza, rocking chairs and on the side of an Irish cliff.
Of course, seeing a Christ-like image in odd places -- like a glob of melted wax -- could be a profound experience to some, and a mere coincidence or simple joke to others.

Nevertheless, there may be a scientific explanation for those who find significance in such sacred sightings.
Researchers at Northwestern University led by Joel Voss say the human brain is wired to look for familiarity and meaning in the most abstract squiggles.

Because our brains automatically identify similar objects and then organize them according to type, we can look at a baseball cap and a fedora and know right away that both are hats.

However, all the scientific evidence in the world doesn't take away the profound spiritual feelings felt by people like pilot Sandra Clifford, the woman who saw the image of Jesus on the side of the cliff in Ireland and snapped a photo on her digital camera.

"I definitely felt a divine presence," Clifford told HuffPost Weird News. "To me, it was definitely a face, but I realize some people may interpret it differently."

Of course, other people don't leave sacred sightings to chance, like Brooklyn entrepreneur Rob Corso, who is marketing a panini maker called the Grilled Cheesus, which prints the image of Jesus onto sandwiches. It goes on the market in March, and he hopes to make a lot of (daily) bread from it.

Darrin Porter Allegedly Brought Beer to Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting

The first step to recovery is to admit you have a problem. You don't have to bring physical evidence.

A "very intoxicated" man who was carrying a beer crashed an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio and refused to leave, according to court documents.

Darrin Porter, 45, showed up drunk at the 12 Step House at 12:15 a.m. and wandered the hallways, interrupting a meeting according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Employees escorted Porter out of the facility, but he allegedly returned. When police arrived, the suspect declined to answer officers' questions and demanded to know their names and social security numbers, according to Fox 19.

Police claim they detected a "strong odor" of alcohol on the suspect's breath and took him into custody, according to WLWT.

Porter has been charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and obstructing official business.

Babysitter Kept Aliahna Lemmon's Head in His Freezer

The babysitter charged with killing a 9-year-old girl who disappeared from an Indiana trailer park dismembered her body and kept her head, feet and hands in his freezer, according to a police affidavit.
Michael Plumadore, 39, shuffled into court today, manacled at this feet and hands. He was ordered held without bail, police said. He was escorted by two Allen County police officers. There were additional officers in the courtroom for extra security.

He was jailed in the death of Aliahna Lemmon, 9, who disappeared from a Fort Wayne trailer park where she lived last week.

A police affidavit submitted to the court today stated that Plumadore "freely admitted" that in the "early morning hours" last Thursday, he struck Aliahna in the head multiple times with a brick "while she was standing on the front steps of his residence."

Police Affidavit Contains Michael Plumadore' Confession
PHOTO: Mike Plumadore is seen in this undated Allen County (Ind.) Sheriff's Department file photo.
He put the girl's body in several trash bags and stuffed her in a freezer until nighttime came. He worked past midnight dismembering Aliahna's body with a hack saw, the affidavit, obtained by ABC News, states. He put the pieces in garbage gas and tossed them in a Dumpster of a nearby business, but kept her head, hands and feet in his freezer.

Plumadore did not tell police why he killed the young girl.

Plumadore, who had been babysitting Aliahna and her two sisters for a week because their mother was ill, initially told police that he has last seen Aliahna sleeping in his trailer on Friday but didn't alert police to her disappearance until Friday night because he believed she had gone home to her mother.
Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries said the girl's body was found after 9 p.m. Monday night.

According to the girl's relatives, Plumadore had been taking care of and living with Aliahna's grandfather, James E. Lemmon, until he died on Dec. 3, 2011, the AP reported. Plumadore was living in the grandfather's trailer at the time of Aliahna's death.

"[Plumadore] was a trusted family friend," Aliahna's stepgrandfather, David Story, told the AP.
James Lemmon was 66 when he died, and had an extensive criminal record, including convictions for child molestation in 2006 and was a registered sex offender.

Aliahna Lemmon
Plumadore was arrested after his third interview with police, Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel told ABCNews.com.
Fries said Plumadore has a criminal record in North Carolina and Florida. Plumadore's next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 30.

The tragic discovery came the same day that police announced that the FBI had joined the investigation and candlelight vigil was being held for Aliahna in Fort Wayne.

A page had been set up on Facebook for the missing girl called "Find Aliahna Marie Maroney Lemmon Missing from Fort Wayne, Indiana." On Sunday, the group posted, "Merry Christmas Aliahna where ever you are! We won't give up on you!"

"No kid should be missing Christmas!" the post read.
