Crime of the Week in Macon County and Decatur, Illinois

The Decatur Police Department needs your help in solving this week’s crime of the week.

On April 3rd officers responded to a strong armed robbery that occurred in the 2300 block of N. Edward Street. Upon arrival officers spoke to an elderly female victim.  The victim advised that at approx. 10:30 am she was leaving Decatur Memorial Hospital.  While walking to her vehicle, an unknown subject came up behind her, grabbed her by both arms and demanded she hand over her purse.  The suspect then pulled the victim’s purse away from her and ran to a vehicle that was parked nearby. The suspect vehicle fled the scene going southbound on Union Street. The vehicle was described as a grey, small to medium sized sedan.
 
The suspect was described as a w/m approximately 50-60 years old. He was 5’8” tall and weighed approximately 200 pounds. The suspect was wearing dark colored pants and a light colored jacket. We need your help in solving this crime.

Crime Stoppers will pay $500 or more for information that leads to an arrest on the crime of the week. Crime Stoppers will also pay cash for information leading to the arrest of any person responsible for a felony crime in Macon County.
