Shoplifter stuffed 102 bottles of nail polish into sweatshirt and pants

A suspected shoplifter was arrested after trying to steal more than 100 bottles of nail polish from a local CVS, police said.

Marco Gonzalez, 42, entered the store in Middletown, Conn., on Thursday night and stuffed 102 bottles of nail polish into his sweatshirt and pants, police said.

Police confronted him around 9 p.m. at the CVS on Washington Street.
The nail polish bottles, made by Essie and Sally Hansen, cost $8.49 each. Altogether the nail polish totaled $865.98.

Gonzalez admitted that he was not planning to pay for the nail polish, police said.
Gonzalez was transported to police headquarters, where he was charged with 5th-degree larceny. He was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 1.

A CVS senior loss prevention officer said the store plans to press charges.

Bus driver stabbed for taking too long in restroom

PORTLAND, Oregon – A Trimet bus driver is recovering after someone stabbed him in the leg.

It happened around 11 p.m. near Southeast 92nd and Flavel.

Portland police say the driver, Brian Nixon, 35, was in a portable restroom when a man started banging on the door.

The victim opened the door after hearing the banging.

That’s when police said the attacker, an African American man in his 30s who is about 5’9″ tall, stabbed Nixon after demanding to use the restroom.

Chicago man charged with biting off another man's ear

A 28-year-old man is charged with breaking into a suburban Chicago home and biting off another man's ear during an argument on Friday, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard Vody, of Justice, Ill., forced his way into the victim’s home early Friday and, during a heated  dispute, leaned in and bit off half of the 26-year-old’s right ear, according to police. Authorities said the victim’s girlfriend also lived in the home and all three knew each other.

Firefighters responded to the scene and took the victim to an area hospital for treatment. With the help of Chicago police canine units, the missing part of the man’s ear was found Saturday near the home.



Vody is charged with home invasion, aggravated battery and domestic battery, according to a press release from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

He is currently out on $250,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Harpoon X-Ray: Brazilian Fisherman Survives Near Fatal Spear Wound

A Brazilian fisherman who accidentally fired a harpoon through his own face survived with minimal brain damage -- and didn't bother to seek medical attention for more than 10 hours.

Bruno Barcellos de Souza Coutinho, 34, was cleaning his fishing gear when the speargun discharged, sending the foot-long weapon approximately six inches into his skull, according to Hospital Santa Teresa.

Instead of rushing to the hospital, de Souza Coutinho apparently thought he would relax and let the wound heal, prompting his aunt to call the fire department.

De Souza Coutinho was completely lucid when he arrived at the hospital, despite having had a small spear pierce his left eye, crush his skull and lodge itself in his brain millimeters from vital arteries, according to Gawker.

He underwent emergency surgery Monday and lost all vision in his left eye due to the mishap.

Tanning Mom, best known best her extra-crispy mug shot, is looking noticeably pale in her topless romp on a toxic beach.

TMZ reports that Patricia Krentcil -- who's off the hook for allegedly taking her then 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth -- posed last week for a long photo shoot on an unnamed, quarantined beach.

Dzohkhar Tsarnaev CHARGED In Boston Bombings While He Lay In His Hospital Bed

The 19-year-old accused of carrying out the bombing at the Boston Marathon -- one of two suspected in last week's incident -- has been charged with use of a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property resulting in a death.

If convicted of the federal charges, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev could be sentenced to death or spend the rest of life in prison. His older brother and alleged bombing accomplice Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed Friday during a shootout with police in Watertown.

A court magistrate came to his hospital room for the arraignment on charges stemming from the double bombing that killed three and wounded more than 200 people.

Tsarnaev was reportedly shot in the throat before his arrest Friday in Watertown, Mass.
Earlier today, the FBI said that he "remains in serious condition" at Beth Israel hospital in Boston.
